Abstract

The increased pace in the digital media has gained lot of buzz in modern technology for images and videos storage. The digital images contain important information and its processing is a biggest task. Also, storing and
retrieving these large sized digital image leads to higher response time which causes performance degradation. Further detection and examining of the image content is a major concern. Hence, this manuscript introduces a performance aware CBIR technique. Here, Chest X-ray image retrieval is performed by considering similarity score. The X-ray image is subjected to the ground truth divisions based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and Bhattacharya coefficient for image retrieval. To analyze the image contents, a grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) based technique is incorporated with CBIR that gives texture of histopathological image with specific pair of pixel values. The study computes the GLCM contrast and correlation values to retrieve the histopathological image. These proposed technique helps to improve the retrieval performance and analyze the similarity factors of the database images. This performance aware CBIR technique offers better feature extraction and accurate image retrieval than existing techniques.

Abstract

The object of research are simulation models analysis of a three- phase induction machine protection systems. The analysis is made on the parameters behavior on the machine (stator current, rotor current, rotor speed and torque) while simulating different types of faults and while there are no faults. Over current fault and protection is used in the first simulation using over current relay, while under voltage, loss of one phase and asymmetric power supply protection is used in the second simulation using over voltage and under voltage relays. The article describes how to protect your induction machine when you have this types of faults.

Abstract

Robots are widely used in many disciplines like manufacturing, military, and commercial. They are seen as a key to advancements in such fields. A robotic is being used to assure precision and reliability. Some bigger companies
like amazon use robotics to achieve stability and speed up their productions. In real-life, robots are mostly used in environments that contain uncertainties events. Additionally, interruptions occur there. Determining several performance quantities such as the execution time, throughput, power dissipation and energy under severe circumstances is crucial in the fields where robotics are used. This paper uses the developed framework earlier on a robotic manipulator to estimate average power dissipation, also known as power consumption, and average energy. Subsequently, a comparison analysis is conducted using several free tools such as Power Gadget, HWMonitor, Sidebar Diagnostics and Open Hardware Monitor. Those free tools are chosen since they are available with no extra hidden charges, and they are easy to download and use. The aim of that analysis is to find the differences between the average estimated value using mathematical equations and the actual ones from those tools. The analysis is performed on a machine running on a Windows-based system. The results that obtained indicate that the estimated/predicted values of the dissipated power and energy are close to the actual values. Likewise, the error between those figures varies between 6% to 11%. This variation happens because the used machine is affected by its specifications, especially the number of cores of its CPU and the clock frequency.

Abstract

Modern monitoring and operational decision-making systems based on image series have become widely used for a wide variety of applications. Among such systems, we will single out real-time monitoring, the requirements for an image processing system in which are very strict. At the same time, the traditionally high complexity of images is in contradiction with the need for fast processing. One of the ways to resolve the contradiction is to represent a series of images as a sequence of additions and changes to the previous image in the next. An important component of such a representation is the search for motion vectors and the corresponding algorithms for searching for such vectors. A new algorithm based on an analytical solution is obtained and provides a multiple compression ratio by eliminating the temporary redundancy of data determined by a high correlation between adjacent frames of video sequences.

Abstract

The paper deals with the development of software for the program code quality assessment, which is based on the software code quality assessment metrics and multi-criteria solution analysis method. The software presented in the paper allows us to assess the quality of software code written in C, C ++, C # and Java programming languages, as well as, if necessary (when we have several software solutions for one task and want to choose the best among them), to rank the program source files based on quality quantitative indicators.

Abstract

The execution of scientific workflow on cloud platform is time consuming and expensive. As users are charged based on hour of usage, lot of research work have been emphasized in minimizing processing time for reduction of cost. However, the processing cost can be reduced by minimizing energy consumption especially when resources are heterogeneous (i.e., multi-core edge platform) in nature; Very limited work have been done considering optimizing energy and processing time parameter together in meeting task Quality of Service (QoS) requirement. This paper presents an energy minimization and task deadline aware workload scheduling (EMTDA-WS) technique under heterogeneous cloud platform. Experiments are conducted using widely used workflow such as Montage. The outcome shows the EMTDA-WS significantly reduces energy, and processing time in comparison with standard workload scheduling model.

Abstract

The elementary operation of IoT are data sensing, collection and transmission; the observed value of sensed data from the sensor device are transmitted toward intermediate/sink device in a periodic manner for smart decision making in timely manner. Improving lifetime performance and network reliability for collecting sensed data is the major objectives of IoT enabled sensor network (IoT-SN). Along with, achieving minimal latency and improving energy efficiency is a major performance metric for provisioning IoT-SN. This work presents energy efficient data transmission (EEDT) model adopting cross layer design for provisioning Internet of things application. Experiment outcome shows EEDT model achieves superior outcome when compared with existing data transmission model in terms of improving energy efficiency, communication overhead and packet processing latency reduction.

Abstract

The contemporary digital age is characterized by the significant informatization of society and the increasing role of technologies in people's lives, which leads to a change in their behaviour. This is related not only to social communications and free remote access to different information, but also to the virtualization and intellectualization of various processes based on cloud and mobile cloud computing, Internet of Tings, smart home & city, Big Data Analytics, etc. All this raises the question of how users' privacy is ensured and who takes care of the protection of their personal data in the global network space. Answers to such questions is the task of this book. In this respect, a summary of special features of informatization as a basis for the development of the modern information society based on the technologies of the digital age is made. The role of information technology as a tool for the implementation of public and business processes in data processing, including personal data, is considered. Ensuring adequate data protection requires application of the principles of information security and fulfilment of the requirements of the legal framework of personal data protection. The structural and technological organization of data protection requires the development of a policy and strategy for the implementation of organizational and technological means to ensure compliance with the requirements of the GDPR. However, regardless of the measures taken, it is necessary for users of services in the digital space to have the necessary level of digital literacy, which requires knowledge of the specifics of technology and especially the possible problems for privacy and personal data protection which are discussed in the last chapter of this book.
